McGoughs and McGeoughs in Rhode Island

This page is a supplement to my census pages that include McGoughs in Rhode Island. I am still working on sorting out the McGough, McGeoughs, McGoffs, Goughs, and Goffs in Rhode Island. I have not found in the 1850 to 1900 censuses several McGough families in Rhode Island who are identified by other sources. To help my search, I have included in this page several simulated census returns, based on birth, marriage, and death records. I have also included in this page the 1910 and 1920 censuses, city directories from the 1890s, and other materials that I hope will help me improve the Rhode Island sections of my census pages.

A good source on McGoughs and McGeoughs in Rhode Island is Ann McGeough Harney's web site: McGeough, What's in a Name? There were several Irish families from the parish of Aughnamullen and the county of Monaghan buried in the 1870s in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. See: Mount St. Mary's Cemetery, 661 Prospect St., Pawtucket RI on Southern New England Irish. See also: Find A Grave. For the gravestones of several McGeoughs and McGoughs, see: The RI Historical Cemeteries Transcription Master Index for Any Word(s). For other links to Rhode Island genealogical sources, see: My Rhode Island Family Histories by Anne McLaughlin and the Rhode Island Historical Society.
